Wooden Car Derby

Collierville, Ten. – The Avenue® Carriage Crossing will host its first annual Father’s Day Wooden Car Derby on Saturday, June 20 at 3 p.m. Father/child teams can visit The Avenue to paint a complimentary wooden derby car at Camp Avenue Fast Lane! on Saturday, June 13 from 9:30-11:30 a.m., and race the cars down the 32- foot track the next weekend to compete for prizes, including Fastest Car, Best Team Name and Best Team Uniform. 

“The Wooden Car Derby is a Father’s Day celebration that will challenge fathers and their children to collaborate and cooperate,” said Eugene Schmitt – general manager, The Avenue Carriage Crossing. “From car design to team name and attire, this event offers many opportunities for family creativity.” 

Mike the Magnificent will be on-hand at Camp Avenue Fast Lane! to create balloon sculptures for participants, and Magic Mr. Nick will dazzle guests with a magic show. Antique and new cars and boats also will be on display for kids of all ages to explore. In addition, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department will have certified car seat technicians on-site to conduct safety checks. 

Registration for Camp Avenue Fast Lane! is limited to the first 250 participants, so arrive early this Saturday to secure your family’s place in the Wooden Car Derby.
