Viera, Fla. – The Avenue® Viera, in partnership with Viera Realty, will celebrate the back to school season with a “Stuff the Bus” school supply donation drive on Tuesday, August 4 from 3-8 p.m. Supplies collected will be distributed to the more than 800 elementary, middle and high school students of Devereux School, the K-12 educational arm of Devereux Florida, the largest non-profit provider of mental health, developmental disabilities and child welfare services in the nation.

 

“Government subsidies help Devereux meet our children’s basic needs – food, clothing, shelter and medicine – but this leaves few dollars for the extras that can really make a difference in a child’s life,” said Patty Hurst – assistant director of development, Devereux Florida. “We appreciate the generous support of the community to make sure these children have the resources they need for a solid education.”

 

Materials needed to “Stuff the Bus” include notebook paper, spiral notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, highlighters, crayons, markers, scissors, glue, colored pencils, rulers, protractors, pocket folders, backpacks, three ring binders and dividers, calculators and graph paper. The Brevard Manatee's have donated the team’s travel bus to “stuff” with school supplies, and Manatee players and Manny the Manatee mascot will be onsite to thank contributors.
