Learning Express Book Drive

Sunday, Oct 11, 9:00AM

Marietta, Ga. - Local shopkeeper Jeff Weiss couldn’t just stand by and watch after September's floods. Weiss is the owner of the educational toy store Learning Express of Marietta, and his wife Paula is a kindergarten teacher in the county. Weiss reached out to Marjorie Bickerstaff, principal of Clarkdale Elementary School, which was decimated in the flooding. Together they came up with the idea of a book drive to replace all the classroom and library titles that were lost when the school was submerged.  Weiss set out with the goal of collecting 500 books. Today he will deliver nearly twice that amount to the school.

Although these are certainly special circumstances, this kind of community involvement is one of the keystones of the Learning Express brand. Weiss is actively engaged in civic fundraising and sponsorship throughout the year, and looks forward to continuing his support as the community rebuilds.
